Probably Our Best Pantry Makeover Ever!
Pantry goals achieved for Jen Bishop @interiorsaddict, by bringing to life unused space.
BEFORE
This pantry had loads of wasted space, access issues in the lower sections and a power point with a toaster. To make this space functional (and not creating a fire hazard with the shelves being too close to the toaster), required some “creative solutions” (which the Tansel Team does like no other!).
AFTER
By removing shelves this pantry has been transformed, with 30% more storage and easier access to the back. It is more functional and will better serve the needs of Jen and her family.
Here’s how we achieved it!
(1) Lower pantry
Taking out one shelf and adding 3 drawers (with removable non-slip bases) created 25% more usable space. The great thing is you can add drawers as you need, when you need and within the budget you have. We used the Drawer Organisation inserts to organise snacks and small items. By providing maximum flexibility, you can change it as you need meaning you achieve optimal organisation – no wasted space!
(2) Upper pantry – RHS Toaster Nook
By splitting the upper pantry we could “have the best of both worlds” – utilise the power point to create a concealed nook for toast and other condiments. We left enough space to ensure a fire hazard was not created if using the toaster and still have storage using shallow shelves.
(3) Upper pantry – LHS Slide Out Storage
This solution really made the best of all available space. We kept the upper shelf so Jen can store items not used on a regular bases, but everything on the left was converted into pull out storage. We doubled the useable space between the upper and mid fixed shelves.
The additional storage is now easy to access and with a little organisation, this pantry is a winner!

Tips
- If you have adjustable shelves, removing them will optimise your space
- If possible decant goods into sealed containers to provide maximum storage
- Stack / place in height order to increase visibility
